Sometimes all it takes to stick to a healthy diet is a plan and preparation. Moms are busier than ever these days. Heck, people are busier than ever, but moms especially. It seems that the demand to keep up with homework, school events, sports, activities, and your kids’ social lives requires more energy as they get older. On top of that there is housework, volunteering, budgeting, groceries, endless cooking, squeezing time in with your spouse, and if you work outside the home, your job. The idea of eating a healthy diet and getting enough exercise and sleep for yourself is exhausting. However, as challenging as it can be, it should be your number one priority to take care of yourself. Luckily, I’m making the healthy diet part simple for you with a ready made plan for the perfect healthy diet day, along with alternate choices to cover your whole week.Continue reading “The Perfect Healthy Diet Day for Busy Moms (or Anyone)”
There is nothing sweeter or softer than the skin of your newborn baby. However, for many their entrance into the world can introduce skin irritations like baby eczema. Treating their sensitive skin can be tricky as you must try to avoid anything that might be too harsh. My three youngest kids (I have five total) went through a terrible stage of baby eczema. My daughter, who was baby number four, had things twice as bad and also had baby acne. I tried so many products and recommended remedies but nothing seemed to work. Finally, about a month after having my youngest son, someone recommended a product I would have never thought of. I’m not sure which was more surprising, the fact that it worked so well, or that it took me five kids to finally find a solution to treating baby eczema.Continue reading “Baby Eczema: The One Product that will Improve It”
I’ve been a healthy eater for a long time now and having the right kitchen tools has made it easier to make good choices. It was in my early 20s when I realized my teenage metabolism wasn’t going to last forever after all, and I probably needed to broaden my diet to healthier food options than the Doritos and Hamburger Helper I was eating (and yes, sometimes both in the same meal).Continue reading “Kitchen Tools for the Healthy Eater”
If you want to feel motivated to workout, find a routine that you like. It’s easier to fire up your ambition and get the most out of exercise when you find the best workout for YOU. Years ago I found this great workout on Pinterest called “She’s Got Legs”. However, as the title indicates it was a workout that was aimed primarily at toning your legs. I really liked it, but I wanted to tone my entire body. So rather than looking for a different workout I revamped my favorite one and made it into a total body strengthening routine. It now gives your body the best workout all over and it can be done anywhere with just a set of weights and a mat or towel.Continue reading “The Best Workout on the Web: She’s Got Body”

I’m always looking for easy activities for kids that don’t involve technology. Between school and today’s society my kids get plenty of time on electronic devices. I try to limit their time at home but that, of course, leads to a lot of “mom, I’m boooored” statements. Sound familiar? They are, in fact, not bored but instead need a little redirection of their energy. In comes these boredom busters that can keep your kids occupied for hours.
