Create With a Pom-Pom Ball Maker

If you haven’t noticed I am a little crazy-in-love with pom-pom crafts here on the blog lately.

It is all due to my discovery of a pom-pom ball maker tool. Did you even know such a thing even existed?

Needless to say it’s opened up a whole new world of craft projects that are easy, fun, and look totally cute when finished.

So where can you get it?

Get the pom-pom ball maker

I ordered my pom-pom maker through my Amazon Prime account (another amazing concept that I couldn’t live without). It is really inexpensive and was delivered in less than 48 hours.

What else will you need?

Yarn, of course! You can order fun bundles, also from Amazon, but a few other good places to shop for yarn are Walmart, JoAnn Fabric, or Hobby Lobby.

How to Make a Pom-Pom Ball

Step #1: Wrap your yarn.

You can choose whichever size pom-pom you want to make, depending on the project you are working on. The pom-pom maker set comes with 4 sizes.

Begin by wrapping your yarn around both of the arches on one side of your pom-pom maker.

You should end up with a good amount if yarn wrapped around the arches but still be able to close it.

Repeat wrapping your yarn around the other set of arches. Once finished your pom-pom maker should look like this.

Step #2: Cut the yarn.

Now using the crevice between the arches as a guide, cut your yarn across one side.

Repeat the cut on the other side.

Step #3: Tie and remove pom-pom ball.

Cut a piece of yarn 6-8” long.

Slide the yarn piece in between the arches and wrap it around the circumference of your maker.

Tie your yarn piece.

Be sure to pull tight and knot it.

Once tied together, pull up on the arches of the pom-pom maker.

Then pull your maker apart to release your pom-pom ball.

Step #4: Trim your Pom-pom.

Finally, you can trim around your pom-pom to even out any longer pieces or sides. However, be sure to leave the piece of yarn you tied it with uncut, because you will likely use that piece to tie it onto your project.

Create with Your Creation

Pom-Pom balls finished!

Now that you’ve made your first pom-pom ball don’t be surprised when you just can’t stop creating. Choose one of the ideas above or come up with your own genius way to use them.

Happy pom-pom crafting!
