The Best Coffee that will Improve Your Skin, Hair, & Nails

I love my morning cup of coffee. Like, LOVE it. It’s the first thing I crave as soon as I wake up and I can’t seem to start my day without it. Addicted? Yes, but hey, we all have our vices. I also love finding easy health and beauty hacks that I can work into my routines at home. I’m all about getting the most benefit from the lowest amount of time and effort. As a mom of five, taking care of myself can be challenging so any helpful tips that come my way are tricks I want to share with other busy ladies. So when I discovered that I could get healthy skin, hair, and nails by adding just one thing to my coffee in the morning, I was all over it. Trust me, this is the best coffee that every woman should be drinking in the morning.

Get Better Hair with Your Morning Coffee

First, let’s talk coffee.

One of the healthiest types of coffees to be drinking are ones that are low acid coffee. Our bodies function best when they are in their natural alkaline state. That goes for our immune system, digestive system, metabolic (fat burning) system, etc. However, much of what we consume by means of food and drink are acidic, including coffee. For a list of alkaline and acidic foods check here. When coffee is something you can’t, or won’t, give up, drinking low acid coffee is best for your bod. Tieman’s Fusion Coffee is one of my favorites, or Lucy Jo’s version is a popular buy on Amazon.

What to add for healthy skin, hair, and nails: Collagen.

Collagen is a protein that is naturally produced by your body. It’s dubbed the glue that holds us together because it resides in our muscles, tendons, ligaments, and skin. As we age our collagen begins to breaks down faster than our bodies can produce it. Adding a collagen supplement to your daily diet can essentially slow down the appearance of aging. One to try from Amazon is Collagen Peptides.

Collagen for your coffee

Benefits of collagen.

Skin: Collagen strengthens skin and improves the elasticity which prevents fine lines and wrinkles. It can also help our skin maintain its hydration.

Nails: Collagen also makes nails stronger, preventing brittleness and promoting growth.

Hair: When it comes to our hair collagen can stimulate the follicles, promoting growth.

Additional benefits from collagen include:

Improving joint health, preventing bone loss, boosting muscle mass, and promoting cardiovascular health.

I started adding collagen to my morning cup of coffee and after just a couple weeks noticed a difference in my nails. They were stronger and my thumb nails that had had a problem with peeling, no longer did. My skin had a better tone and my hair, which had been severely damaged by bleaching, started to feel and look healthier. All by just adding one scoop of collagen peptides to my coffee everyday. To remind myself, I keep my collagen right next to my coffee maker. That way I don’t forget to add it. Below is exactly how I take my morning cup of joe. Try it or simply add a scoop of collagen to your preferred coffee.

My Favorite Morning Coffee

coffee

Ingredients

  • 1-2 tsp raw honey or agave syrup
  • 2-3 Tbsp unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • low acid brewed coffee
  • 1 scoop collagen peptides powder

Directions

I usually add the honey and almond milk to my mug first, then I pour my coffee in to desired fullness. I add the collagen last because it mixes best that way. Stir it all up and “ahhhh”, good morning to you.

In addition to your coffee helping to improve your skin, hair, and nails, here are some more hacks for your daily beauty routine:

More natural skin care:

  • Dry brushAdd tea tree oil to your daily moisturizer. Be sure to use a reputable brand that is therapeutic grade in order to get the best quality and most benefit.
  • Try dry brushing for smoother, softer skin. There are also a number of other benefits from this practice.

More hair care:

  • Check out the deep conditioning packets at your local Walmart. They are inexpensive ($1.50-$2.50) and work! This Cabernet Sauvignon conditioner is one of my favs.
  • Only wash your hair every 2-3 days. You can use a dry shampoo in between like this one from Amazon. Dry shampoo
  • Take biotin daily, it promotes hair growth and is another supplement that improves your skin and nails as well.
