There are all sorts of skin treatments you can go out and invest in. However, the biggest factor in keeping your skin healthy and glowing are the things you do at home. 3 Proven Ways For Getting Your Best Skin At Home

Make a Habit to Get Your Best Skin

Like anything else, the way to achieving what you want is through consistency. It’s no different when it comes to your skin and how you care for it.

I have struggled with skin issues since my teenager years. In fact, I think my skin as an adult has been harder to manage than it was back in high school.

Stress, hormones, pregnancies, working out, diet. These are all things that have affected my skin condition.

However, after years of trying different products, treatments, and at-home techniques there are a few proven methods I’ve found that keep my skin in check, glowing, and feeling healthy.

Easy and Affordable Best Skin Care

Surprisingly, the methods listed below are not expensive miracle creams or serums. They are not products being pushed for sale on a lengthy infomercial whose ingredients comes from some far corner of the world that you can get for just 6 payments of $39.95.

Nope. Instead, they are basic and natural. Plus, they are pretty darn easy. Proof that beauty doesn’t have to come at a high price

What About Professional Treatments?

Heading in to a dermatologist or skin specialist is a great idea if you are looking to improve your skin condition or certain problem areas.

However, it’s not something that most people can do on a daily or weekly basis. So in between professional visits, it’s important to have a good skin care regimen to keep your skin looking it’s best.

Bentonite Clay Mask

I have been incorporating Bentonite Clay into my skin care routine for a couple of years now. I kid you not, this stuff is nothing short of amazing.

Once a week I mix up three ingredients:

  • 1 tsp bentonite clay
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar (with “the mother”)
  • 3 drops tea tree essential oil (therapeutic grade)

Then I apply it to my face and neck. I allow it to dry for about 20 minutes or a little longer depending on how thick I apply it. Once it’s dry I gently wash it off with warm water.

This habit completely transforms the tone of my skin, making it brighter and more even. It helps to control breakouts, especially around certain times of the month, and it diminishes and prevents fine lines by tightening my skin.

Plus, with just this one canister you can make dozens of face masks so it lasts a long time.

Collagen Peptides

I originally started using collagen peptides to improve my finger nails. I had trouble with them becoming brittle and peeling, especially in the winter months.

After adding collagen to my daily regimen the difference was night and day. Even in the middle of winter when the air is extra dry my nails are as strong as ever with no peeling.

But collagen had a couple of other benefits for me, including a healthier complexion.

During my last pregnancy I had dark pigmentation spots appear on my face. I tried several topical methods to lighten them but it was to no avail. Even a year and a half after I had had my son they were still very prominent.

A few months after I started using collagen I realized they had faded significantly and my skin tone had evened out which may have been due to the increased amount of proteins that make up the structure our our skin.

Collagen can also help to decrease and prevent fine lines and wrinkles, and improve the hydration of our skin.

Additionally, taking collagen daily benefits your hair and joints, making it a great supplement to add to your diet.

How I consume my collagen.

Each morning I put one scoop of collagen peptides in my coffee. It’s tasteless so it doesn’t change the flavor as far as can tell and it dissolves immediately. Since I can’t live without my morning cup of Joe it’s the perfect way for me to remember to take it everyday.

However, if you are not a coffee drinker you can mix it into any hot or cold beverage.

Water

Stay Hydrated

Seriously, the best piece of advice I can give you to keep your skin looking healthy and radiant is to keep yourself hydrated. It’s also the easiest and cheapest element of your beauty routine.

Your body, including your skin, craves water. Without adequate amounts your skin can become dry, wrinkled, prone to breakouts, and suffer form decreased cell production.

I don’t go anywhere without my favorite brand of water bottle and I always have a glass full of water and ice at home. In fact my favorite type of glass to drink out of when I’m momming or working around my house is my insulated wine glass. No joke, give it a try! It makes drinking water extra special.
